At the age of 23, Sean Anderson, a.k.a. Big Sean, is the newest artist signed to G.O.O.D. Music/Island Def Jam. Sean was born in Santa Monica, California, and moved to the west side of Detroit, Michigan, at the age of two months. His mother and grandparents raised him, working tirelessly to instill in him the values of hard work and dedication.
From Kindergarten to eighth grade, Sean attended the Detroit Waldorf Academy, an art school where he was exposed to a wide range of art and culture. Later, he attended Cass Technical High School, where he furthered his music career, made lifelong friends, and earned the love of fans and peers by selling his music independently.
Sean established a close friendship with 102.7FM, a local Detroit radio station, where he performed his rhyming skills on a weekly basis. After a radio interview in 2005, he met Kanye West there and was given the opportunity to showcase his talent by freestyling for him, giving him a copy of his music, and sending him several tracks for him to critique. Sean received a call from Kanye West himself, saying he wanted to sign him, after months of sending songs and various meetings. In 2007, Big Sean signed with G.O.O.D Music, and in 2008, he signed with Island Def Jam.
