Belden Village Mall, located in Jackson Township, Ohio, is a shopping mall. Dave & Buster’s (in the upper level of the former Sears), Dillard’s (formerly Higbee’s), and Macy’s (formerly O’Neil’s, then May Company Ohio, then Kaufmann’s) are the new anchor tenants.
Belden Village Mall, a fully enclosed shopping center, opened on October 1, 1970. It was anchored by O’Neil’s, Sears, and Higbee’s and covered over 800,000 leasable square feet. The latter lasted until 1992, when Dillard’s rebranded it. In 1989, O’Neil’s merged with May Company Ohio, which became Kaufmann’s in 1993.
In 1989, Belden Village received a makeover. The food court was updated with new tenant signs and pastel colored flags hung from the ceiling. Glass atriums have been added to the main entrances. On September 9, 2006, the Kaufmann’s store was renamed Macy’s.
The mall has had outlot businesses added at various times. Sears Auto Center (closed in 2020), Chili’s Bar & Grille (opened in 1986), Bravo Cucina (opened in 2006), and Max & Erma’s (closed in 2005) are among the businesses. The Westfield Group purchased the shopping center in early 2002 after several years of ownership by Cleveland developers The Jacobs Group, and renamed it “Westfield Shoppingtown Belden Village,” dropping the “Shoppingtown” name in June 2005. Starwood Retail Partners bought several Westfield properties, including Belden Village, in November 2013. The mall’s name has been changed back to “Belden Village Mall.” The main entrance was redone in a more contemporary style in the second half of 2016. The Max and Erma’s closed in 2016 and was later turned into a Burntwood Tavern. A former truck bay was renovated in 2017 to create new storefronts and a Melt Bar & Grilled. The food court underwent a one-day redesign in 2019, which included new furniture and lighting.
