Gift card in german
Vivid: free german bank account with + cashback | new: €25
I hope I’m asking this question in the correct board (if not, could a mod pass it?). In a German store, I’d like to purchase a Steam gift card (REWE, but there are also others who sell such cards). I’m not sure if I can use a german gift card on any of these accounts because I only have a russian steam account. Is it appropriate to establish a German account to use the card while I’m in Germany, or can I use the card on any account as long as I’m in the country where the card was issued? It would be preferable if Valve clarified where the card should be used on the backside of the card. This is something Apple does for their German iTunes cards (I’m sure it’s just for the cards offered by LIDL ;-)).
No, it won’t work on a particular currency account.
If you don’t live in those regions, you should be wary about building Steam accounts in those regions. If Valve accuses you of avoiding regional pricing or limitations, they will terminate all of your accounts. The proper way to handle moving to a foreign country is to open a support ticket, provide Valve with the new information, and ask them to change your account’s default currency. Multiple accounts are legally forbidden by the Terms of Service, but they are often overlooked unless someone is explicitly doing anything wrong.

When I’m not sure what to get anyone in Canada, I buy gift cards to grocery stores and gas stations. Is this (the gift card) a German/European concept? What about Visa or MasterCard pre-paid cards?
You can’t think of anything to carry that is typical of Canada or your region? Maybe some special jam, maple syrup, or handcrafted items; it might just be anything small, like an invitation to dinner while you’re here; it’s more personal in my opinion.
However, I brought a couple of small desk or wall calendars depicting the American west that were flat, easy to pack, and weighed just a few ounces to my relatives. I have brought a tiny framed picture of my family (5″ x 7″) to show them.
They weren’t much, but they were appreciated nonetheless. And they didn’t even come close to putting me over my weight limit—but I usually fly light to begin with. For 10-14 days in Europe, a single small bag (next size up from carry-on) is appropriate.

Limitation of Liability is the sixth point to consider. If your Gift Card is lost, stolen, damaged, or used without your permission, GCL is not responsible. When a Gift Card becomes non-functional due to a technical issue, the balance on the non-functioning card will be credited to your account in the sum of the non-functioning card’s balance. GCL is not responsible for the failure of a Gift Card to operate as defined in these terms of service due to a third party, such as a failure of the internet, a computer, mobile device, or other device used to access the internet, or a failure of an internet service or mobile network provider.
