The world of Roshar is one of stone and winds. Unusual tempests of immense strength rage through the rugged terrain so often that they’ve influenced both nature and society. Animals hide in shells, trees retract their leaves, and grass retracts into the bare field. Only where the topography provides shelter are cities developed.
The 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant have been extinguished for decades, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: magical swords and suits of armor that turn ordinary men into near-invincible warriors. They were the ones who fought and won wars. On the Shattered Plains, one such conflict is raging. Kaladin has been reduced to slavery there. He tries to save his men and understand why their leaders deem them expendable in a war that makes no sense, where ten armies battle separately against a single foe.
One of those armies is led by Brightlord Dalinar Kholin. He, like his late brother, is enthralled by an ancient text known as The Way of Kings. He has started to question his own sanity, plagued by dreams of ancient times and the Knights Radiant.

More than the text, I’ll be discussing the marvel that is the Graphic Audio of this book. If you’d like to read a summary of Way of Kings, go to this link. Stunning!!! I’m blown away by how amazing this is. I’ve never spent this much money on an audiobook before; even on sale, I believe WoKs was about $55 and WoR was another $55. Storming Fantastic, however! It took a lot of willpower on my part to avoid beginning my Graphic Audio reread of The Way of Kings much earlier. I did sneak peeks on occasion, which just served to aggravate my itching. Finally, the time had come to begin the third reread of my favorite book in preparation for Oathbringer, and I can confidently say that it was a truly epic experience. The immersion factor of listening to this incredible book on GA was incredible!! We haven’t even gotten to the climax yet.
