Census tracts are small, relatively permanent subdivisions of a county established by the United States Census Bureau in partnership with local governments around the country to identify real communities that are bounded to include areas of similar population characteristics (including economic status, lifestyle, and living conditions). Census tracts typically have 4,000 people, but they may have anything from 1,500 to 8,000. This is the most fine-grained environment about which the government makes specific information available in order to protect of of our individual privacy. Census tracts vary in size depending on the density of settlement since they are dependent on population. They are tiny in urban areas and can cover an entire small town or even a few small towns in very rural areas in rural areas.
Since census tracts are county subdivisions, we used a geographic information system to conduct a spatial overlay of census tracts onto city and town boundaries in order to properly assign each census tract to the appropriate city or town. Then, for each census tract, we used the local colloquial neighborhood name for that location (e.g., Boston, MA) (Dorchester). If no name was appropriate, we called the census tract after the census tract’s largest street intersection (e.g., Worcester, MA (Lincoln St/Plantation St)).

Greenwell Springs is a community in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area in Central, Louisiana, United States.

[2][3][4][5][6][7][ It used to be a separate unincorporated community in East Baton Rouge Parish. 70739 is the zip code for this place.
Robert W. Greenwell acquired land in what is now known as Greenwell Springs in the 1850s and began transforming the area into a rural resort centered on ten medicinal springs. Despite their near proximity, each spring was said to have somewhat different and distinct mineral properties. This was thought to mean that the springs originated from various depths under the earth.
The resort area became known as the Greenwell Springs Hotel, and Confederate General John Breckinridge used it as a headquarters and staging area during the Civil War. Breckinridge’s forces marched west to attack Union forces who had occupied Baton Rouge prior to the Battle of Baton Rouge in April 1862. Confederate forces withdrew to the Greenwell Springs Hotel after the fighting and used it as a hospital for injured soldiers. Union and Confederate soldiers were buried in unmarked graves on the hotel grounds. Robert W. Greenwell served as a captain in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. During the Battle of Port Hudson, he was the commander of the East Baton Rouge Guards, which was then Company F, 3rd Louisiana Cavalry.
