Senator Rick Scott on GOP unity: The “Republican civil war has been canceled” Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., claims that his Republican colleagues are unified in their opposition to Democratic policies. He says he’ll be “very aggressive” in helping Republican incumbents in congressional elections in 2022, according to “Fox News Sunday.” Sen. Rick Scott of Florida is expected to make headlines Thursday as he visits Iowa, the state that has kicked off the presidential nomination process for the past half-century. Although the trip will fuel speculation about Scott’s possible GOP presidential candidacy in 2024, the visit is all about 2022 for the chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC). POTENTIAL GOP PRESIDENTIAL RIVALS START MAKING EARLY VOTES AS TRUMP REPEATEDLY TEASES A RUN IN 2024. However, Scott’s position as chairman of the Senate GOP’s reelection arm as the party attempts to reclaim the chamber’s majority could pay off if he chooses to run for president after next year’s midterm elections. Scott has been invited to Iowa by the Republican Party, where he will work with fellow Republicans Sen. Joni Ernst, Rep. Ashley Hinson, and state party Chair Jeff Kaufmann to help raise funds for Republicans in Cedar Rapids.
Iowa vs. grand canyon – first round ncaa tournament
One question that might come up again and again in the coming days is: Are there any other games in the Sweet 16? Or just UConn vs. Iowa, and more precisely, Paige Bueckers vs. Caitlin Clark, the freshman phenom guards?
The buzz around those two players — who would have been obvious one-and-done candidates if the rules permitted it, but are now set to be Huskies and Hawkeyes fixtures for years to come — is completely justified. However, there are seven more games to be played, all of which feature signature stars, with a strong chance that the champion will emerge from the non-Clark/Bueckers community.
But let’s start there, and it’s difficult to think of a better setting for women’s basketball than this: Iowa vs. UConn will be televised on ABC at 1 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, giving the two signature freshmen this season (with apologies to other standout rookies including Rutgers’ Diamond Johnson and Louisville’s Hailey Van Lith) a national television audience.
The two stars have different approaches to reaching the pinnacle of their careers. Clark is a giant built on volume, leading the country in use rate with nearly 19 shots per game, including 9.4 from three-point range. In her first season against college competition, she finished just short of a 50-40-90 season, playing in a Big Ten Conference that sent four teams to the Sweet 16. Clark isn’t just a shooter, as he has a 40.1 assist ratio. She absolutely dominates a game in every offensive aspect, is able to get her shot off easily, and is willing to take it and make it from almost any spot on the court.

The estimated cost of the project will rise to over $407 million if the Board of Regents approves replacing windows on Floors 4 and 5 of the Children’s Hospital, as well as on a link bridge leading to the main UIHC campus, next week.
This cost involves consultation and assessments to decide which windows are dangerous and what is causing the problems. It also includes temporary measures put in place to keep tourists secure, according to UIHC officials.
UI Hospitals and Clinics Chief Executive Officer Suresh Gunasekaran told The Gazette, “We were just seeing some cracking in a few isolated windows, and when we saw them in more than a few windows, we hired an outside company to come in and make sure it’s OK.”
Since discovering the problem in 2019, a consultant discovered manufacturer flaws in just a few forms of windows at the Children’s Hospital, indicating that the majority of windows, including those in patient rooms, are unaffected. The hospital took “preventive” steps that year, including closing its new Children’s Hospital playground and installing a protective film over windows of concern last summer.
