Miners exchange hotel

Honeyminer 2020 [death of a sell out]

A fantastic hotel. The staff is very polite and supportive. The food is fantastic. Voodoo rice and fried catfish nuggets were on my menu. Exceptionally tasty. My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The front desk updated our room after we checked in. I can’t say enough positive stuff about this hotel.

Winfield Scott Stratton, a civic benefactor who made his fortune in the Cripple Creek gold rush of the 1890s, designed the structure between 1900 and 1902. The Colorado Springs Mining Exchange was housed in the building, which was designed to promote regional mining companies and their stock. It was, and still is, regarded as the most substantial and well-preserved structure associated with Stratton. In the 1920s, it was the city’s first building to rise over four feet, and it housed Colorado Springs’ Mining Stock Exchange.
While Herbert Sommers claimed that the corner on which the new building was erected “had been regarded by all as being too far out in the country to be good for business,” Stratton believed that the exchange deserved a home “more commensurate with its importance” than its previous position on E. Pikes Peak Avenue. The building was described in the gazette as “the beneficence and civic loyalty of the great mining king of the state of Colorado,” citing its stone, brick, and steel construction.
