Vindex, a global esports infrastructure network, announced its launch today with an initial funding round of $60 million. The company also announced the acquisition of Next Generation Esports (NGE) and the launch of Esports Engine (both esports operations, distribution, and technology companies).
Mike Sepso and Sundance DiGiovanni, co-founders of Major League Gaming (MLG), which was purchased by Activision Blizzard in 2015, as well as Bryan Binder and Jason Garmise, fintech entrepreneurs and private investors, formed Vindex. Game developers, esports leagues, and teams will use the company’s technology and services to connect with their fans all over the world.
Esports Engine, which was co-founded by MLG founding employee Adam Apicella, provides publishers and esports teams with turnkey esports operations and fan experiences. NGE is a Burbank, California-based independent esports development company. The existing relationships between the two companies will be maintained and expanded by Vindex.
