The Royal Bahamas Police Force is the Commonwealth of The Bahamas’ national law enforcement agency. It is part of the Ministry of National Security’s portfolio. On March 1, 1840, the police force was created. The Force is headquartered in Nassau, Bahamas, on East Street Hill.
The evolution of policing in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from the early eighteenth century to the late nineteenth century generally followed the trend of policing in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Men were designated as constables during the first half of this time to assist in the implementation of government rules and regulations, as well as the arrest of criminals. During the night, a Night Guard was assigned to secure Nassau, the capital of the British Crown Colony of the Bahamas.
There was a constable in New Providence as early as 1729. However, his responsibilities do not seem to have been as extensive and well established as those of today’s police constable. The local magistrate, justices of the peace, and other government officials were all assigned to this constable.

Before coming in person, please call the police station and make an appointment. You may be asked to bring a letter detailing why you need fingerprinting. We will usually include this letter if the reason is linked to government jobs in the United States. We are unable to provide pricing details since this is not a service provided by the US Embassy. Before you do the fingerprinting, we recommend that you inquire about the cost. Here’s some more general knowledge on criminal background checks and fingerprinting:
