🤨 Law shadowing opportunities

During the month of February 2020, the YLS is hosting a “Shadow-a-Lawyer Month”! Our mission is to provide law students with a valuable opportunity to network, tutor, and gain firsthand experience and exposure to the day-to-day of practicing law in the Chicago area.
We’re looking for lawyers to volunteer right now. You may take a student to court, invite them to your office, accompany them to a deposition, or assign them any other assignment you think would benefit them. Law students will be able to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about an attorney’s day-to-day activities. If you’re interested, please sign up here and let us know your availability by January 17, 2020.
Open opportunities will be sent to CBA law student members and our representatives at Chicago law schools by the end of January so that students can sign up for available time slots and connections can be made.

⭕ Job shadowing for law students

I recently completed my electrical engineering degree in Canada and am considering a career in law. However, I’d like to get a better understanding of what lawyers do, and I believe shadowing will help me do that. Since I come from a technical background, I’m especially interested in patent law. If possible, I’d like to shadow for a few days. What is the best way to approach a lawyer with such a request? Is it a smart idea to contact companies and inquire for secretaries on the phone? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. a total of 7 comments 86 percent sharesavehidereport Voted up This discussion has been closed. There are no new comments or votes that can be made.
