My sweetheart is growing up so fast
Thank you for visiting Burlington. We are a well-known and thriving small city on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain. Burlington residents are diverse and forward-thinking, and they live in a beautiful setting with plenty of leisure opportunities. We are steeped in the arts and culture, and we are actively involved in the development of our economy. We are happy you have found us, whether you live in Burlington, are relocating here, are planning a holiday, or want to expand or bring your company to Burlington. Please let us know how we can be of most assistance to you.
Mayor Weinberger asks all Burlington residents to envision a future in which ethnic inequalities have been abolished and everyone in the Burlington community experiences true belonging in his annual State of the City address.
“I want the public to know that I still believe that public safety in Burlington needs to be transformed structurally and culturally, that we must confront law enforcement’s terrible history of racial inequality, and that Kyle’s report is in no way a complete overview of the work that we must do as a City and a society.”

We’d like to share a letter and photo sent to the City Clerk, titled “Why Sage Should Be the Top Dog for 2021.”
We thought Sage’s letter was worth sharing, even if this isn’t how the City chooses our Top Dog and Cat!
The City of South Burlington’s fiscal year 2019-2020 audit, performed by RHR Smith & Company, is now complete and available on the city’s website. Last week, at the City Council meeting on March 15, the annual audit presentation was made.
The audit includes the independent auditor’s report, management’s discussion and review, basic financial statements, such as a statement of net position and fund financial statements, necessary and supplementary material, such as financial statement notes, and federal compliance.
Despite the Pandemic and lower revenues, the City ended the fiscal year on June 30, 2020 with a balance of just over $20,000 on the books. The overall Fund Balance is currently $1.6 Million, and the $20,000 will be added to that fund balance because no funds were required to make up for any deficit in FY20.

Sierra Rainey and Reese Gordon, both 12 years old, gave our public safety team tie dyed masks. What began as a rainy-day diversion turned into a gift to help support our first responders. (Read the rest of the story here.)
I enjoy being your City Clerk for many reasons, the most important of which is our people. When word got out that there was a national shortage of poll staff, people flocked to our office and offered to help in whatever way they could, whether it was in our office or at the polls. Without their support, this election would have been nearly impossible. So, a heartfelt thank you to anyone who contacted our office in search of volunteer opportunities. To our front check-in staff, those who stood by the tabulator, and those who helped us sort through all 12,820 ballots at the end of the night searching for voter purpose, we used our volunteers to do early pre-processing of ballots and those who on election day kept open the doors to minimize the spread of germs. Your generosity of time and support has deeply humbled me.
