Asicminer usb block erupter unboxing: cpu modder
ASIC Miner first declared Block Erupter USBs on BitcoinTalk.org in 2013. They were described as “a great gift for getting people to know about Bitcoin and Bitcoin mining” because they were compact, pocket-sized, and relatively powerful bitcoin usb miners.
Blue, silver, black, red, and yellow are the five colors available for the Block Erupter USB Miner. The minimum order sum was 300 USB miners at the time of release, so people could get one with the aid of retailers and group-buying sites. Many new versions of the tiny usb miner have been released since then. The ASICMiner Block Erupter USB (330MH/s) Sapphire version is currently available on Amazon and other retailers for $20.

Anyone who comes across this and is wondering if USB miners are still profitable should read on. Take a look at this website. However, the short answer is no longer true. Bitcoin mining has evolved into a high-stakes game for major players. Invest in large group buys or convert to scrypt instead.
Scrypt mining is a form of alt-coin mining (Litecoin, Feathercoin, WorldCoin, etc). Scrypt mining is not possible with Bitcoin Asic miners, but if you want to mine and are about to buy hardware, look into scrypt mining with GPUs.
4-erupters with powered-USB hub and 92mm cooling fan With these USB erupters, I’ve had a consistent 1.3-1.4Gh/s, with a peak of 2.2Gh/s (but that was an anomaly and not consistent). I use bfgminer and set them up to run @bitminter. After you’ve set up the drivers and figured out how to mine, they’re incredibly simple to use. I prefer to mine @bitminter because it allows you to mine namecoin and bitcoin at the same time using the same port/pool.
If you want to mine alt coins with your gpus when mining bitcoin with your ASIC cards, don’t use bitminter’s flash miner (it won’t play nice with wallets or cgminer, and you’ll get a lot of rejects)- but I can also run guiminer-scrypt or cgminer to hash out alt coins by using a command line miner for sha-256.

The Adafruit learning blog (via the Hackaday blog) has just shown off a Raspberry Pi-based bitcoin miner, which is as unlikely as it sounds. For those who are unfamiliar with the Raspberry Pi, it is a tiny computer built on a single circuit board that was created to help children learn about computer science at a low cost. Inevitably, hobbyists have taken to the Raspberry Pi and have put these tiny computers to a variety of uses, like bitcoin mining.
Of course, a Raspberry Pi alone lacks the computing power needed to effectively mine bitcoins. Asicminer Block Erupters with USB capacity, on the other hand, do. In this case, the Raspberry Pi is connected to a USB hub that is powering four of these 333Mh/s units. The average hash rate of all the miners combined (around 1.3GH/s), as measured by the cgminer program, is then displayed on a small LCD through the Pi’s GPIO pins.
These USB miners are now worth 0.99 BTC each, according to the Bitcoin forum, with licensed forum members buying sets of 50 or more to sell to end users. As a result, the overall cost is £263.78 GBP, plus around £60 GBP for the Raspberry Pi and powered USB hub. So mining at 1.3Gh/s has an upfront expense of £323.78 GBP (not including the additional electronics that need to be put together).
