Andy black – they don’t need to understand (lyrics)

Andrew Dennis Biersack was an inventive and artistic kid in Cincinnati, Ohio, grappling with anxiety, insecurity, isolation, and the difficult task of fitting in before he became the charismatic singer of Black Veil Brides and an accomplished solo artist under the Andy Black moniker. Biersack recounts his childhood and adolescence with his signature charm, sarcastic wit, and insightful analysis. The discovery of his creative interests that would shape his life, as well as his decision to move to Hollywood after turning 18 to follow his dreams, even though it meant living in his car to do so. It’s the origin story of one of modern rock’s most thrilling teenage superheroes, from creating miniature concerts in his bedroom with KISS action figures to releasing the RIAA gold-certified single “In the End” and interacting with devoted fans all over the world.

I’ll write a full summary soon, but here are some initial thoughts:
– This is the first memoir(ish) of a “celebrity” who is younger than me that I’ve read. It was a strange experience, to say the least. – I am a huge fan of Biersack’s music, especially his solo albums and the last three BVB albums (first two are ok, but the band levelled up dramatically after those). – It’s not the best music memoir I’ve ever read, but some of my favorite books are music memoirs, so a direct comparison may be unfair. – I haven’t read a lot of journalistic covers.

He also has a huge amount of ambition and dedication, which has served him well. Have a lot of ideas. I hope the final analysis isn’t too lengthy.

From the risky early days of self-financed recordings and do-it-yourself concert productions that were as flashy as they were foolish, to the multi-platinum, MTV-fueled glory years of stadium-shaking anthems and chart-topping power ballads, to the ultimate crash when grunge bands like Nirvana forever changed the entire climate of the business, Tom Beaujour and Richard Bienstock’s Nothin’ But a Good Time spans the entire history of rock
